The continuous improvement and quality management representative provides leadership, training and support to The Arthur G. Russell Co. in an effort to achieve “Best-in-Class” performance by eliminating waste across all core and supporting processes while improving delivery, quality and cost to meet our customers’ needs and creating an environment focused on continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop AGR’s Lean strategy.
  • Lead in the selection, prioritization, development, and execution of process improvement activities whose objectives support AGR’s strategic goals and true north initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team in the development of a Lean culture by promoting employee involvement and process improvement through gemba walks and the GROW initiative.
  • Coordinate efforts with functional leaders, supervisors and hourly employees in identifying improvement opportunities within the organization.
  • Conduct data analysis of current state/baseline metrics and assist in the development of project charters.
  • Provide monthly data driven Lean updates to the Lean Leadership Committee.
  • Chair the GROW committee
    • Develop and maintain the Lean status communication board
    • Facilitate 5S throughout the company and ensure maintenance
  • Manage Value Stream Mapping activities.
  • Provide monthly (or quarterly) Lean report at the Communication meeting.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, and follow-up to ensure successful implementation, closure, documentation and closeout.
  • Train, coach and mentor Team Leaders and hourly employees in Lean tools and problem solving techniques; develop Kaizen facilitators.
  • Support the company’s mission, vision and core values in performing daily activities.
  • Investigate and recommend technology and or process changes to facilitate cost savings and continuous capacity improvement.
  • Collaborate with safety committee to promote a safe working environment through awareness and training. Conduct audits and ensure completion of safety audits and housekeeping tours.
  • Engage, mentor and empower employees at all levels to realize benefits from continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintains the AGR ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS), looks to continuously improve the QMS.
  • Leads as the ISO 9001 Management Representative, coordinates and conducts ISO Audits to maintain certification. Interfaces with ISO Registrar to ensure continued AGR compliance with the relevant ISO standards.
  • Performs, manages and documents internal and external audit activities to support ISO 9001.
  • Manages supplier performance assessments and customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Manages the Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) program, to include root cause analysis.
  • Leads the company in Risk Management integration into all departments.
  • Maintains the company’s Document Control system.
  • Coordinates and leads Quality Management review meetings with Senior Management to review the following:
    • The state of the QMS, including recommendations for improvement, quality policy objectives, suitability, adequacy and supplier information.
    • Internal and External audit results
    • Customer Feedback
    • Process performance and product conformance
    • Status of Preventive and Corrective Actions
    • Follow up on items from previous Management Review Meetings and changes that could affect the Quality System (internal and external)

Authority:  The Continuous Improvement Manager may take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position, consistent with The Arthur G. Russell Company, Inc. policy and sound business judgment.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Business Management or comparable work experience.
  • Certified Continuous Improvement Champion (CCIC).
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 – 2015 standards.
  • If driving on company business, must have a valid driver’s license and current certificate of insurance with at least minimum liability coverage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate in all required software applications including proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to self-start and work with minimal supervision or assistance.
